Justin has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Université Laval et is currently doing a master’s degree in biophotonics. He is interested in fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy in photon starved regimes in neurons as well as developing user-friendly analysis programs. He uses Python and Julia as his main programming languages.
Justin’s project consists of quantifying rapid variation in chloride ions in central nervous system neurons using fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). By optimizing acquisition parameters during experiments and during analysis, Justin can measure chloride ions currents in cell bodies and dendrites of neurons with temporal resolutions ranging from milliseconds to seconds. This method reveals chloride fluxes in the neurodevelopmental context.
